We would like to issue an invitation for all artists to join us and show off your craft, competing for prizes! The Art Expo vs. The Artist Alley
- The Art Expo event is a juried art contest & show; application deadline is July 1, 2012. An artist competes for prizes by entering the Expo, plus may market their authentic function about show for the Expo.
- (Artist Alley, on the other hand is a vendor area for artists and small press. You may rent Artist Alley space and still choose to enter the contest with two pieces of original work.)
- Each artist who enters the contest must fill out the online "Ticket" application via Eventbrite, which is basically an info-capture module (see Red Button to the right, "ART EXPO Registration"). This includes a small entry fee for two pieces entered, but that covers both the gallery space for the artist to show, compete, and sell. The fee will be deducted from any sales commission due to Space City Con (see below) and allows for us to accept payments from buyers in your behalf.
- The Art Expo allows for a limited number of entry pieces, but Artist Alley tables are also available if a table to sell all of your work (including prints) is desired. An artist who purchases an Artist Alley table may enter the Art Expo contest with no additional fees.
- After the online registration module, please email an image of each work of art, in .jpg form, to artists@spacecitycon.com – Please include the name with all the pictures transferred.
- Application and payment is submitted online via the "ticket" info capture module. If you have questions, please email us before submitting this application.
- Artists will be sent acceptance via email.
- All artwork must be clearly labeled, on the reverse side, by attaching the form (which Space City Con will email to you) called 'Artist/Artwork ID.' We will also send you a barcode to place on the reverse side.
- On the 'Artist ID' form you must mark either: Set Price, Starting Bid Price, or Not For Sale (NFS). If you are selling your work please price in whole dollar amounts. (ex. .00)
- Artists will be juried using the original work submitted to the Expo contest.
- Artwork sold in Houston, Texas, is subject to the current tax rate. The purchaser is responsible for taxes incurred by the sale. Space City Con takes 10% of all sales of art entered in the Art Expo. No fees will be assessed from prize monies–only sales–and only from work sold in the Expo.
- We are accepting any artwork, including, but not limited to, canvas, paper, photography, jewelry, 2D, 3D, fiber, fabric, glass, ceramic, and mixed media.
- Artwork for the Art Expo must be the original work (including limited edition prints that are signed and labeled) of the artist. (For Artist Alley, prints and giclee are permitted if they are the work of the artist. If you are a seller of multiple prints, from a collection of artists, please see the Dealer's Room section of our site).
- Once Space City Con has all the accepted applicants, you will receive your information on your artwork or table locations, maps, and hotel information.
- The Art Expo closes, and is secured, when Dealer's Room and Artist Alley vendor areas close each day. No one will be permitted back inside Woodway Hall until opening the next day. The room containing the art show will be monitored at all times when open.
- Space City Con takes no responsibility for pieces that are damaged in their handling before, during, and after the show. Participating artists may insure their artworks for the shipping process and for property damage, liability or to cover any losses by the artist.
- Returns will be made either in person, to the artist, or his/her designated agent, or by carrier as arranged via email.
- If you have any questions, feel free to email the Art Expo Directors:
